Straight Talk about a Crooked Business?

Insurance. Yikes? Put on any TV station today and all we hear about are those big bad insurance companies in the US that are making too much money and denying coverage to people. Health insurance is big news right now. It seems all "insurance" gets lumped into the same bowl. I have been kicking around the life insurance business for over 25 years now and I can safely say, "it's not a crooked business".

Yeah, it gets bogged down in some fancy language. Yeah, there are some plans that people swear are designed not to pay. You have to remember, the less you pay, the less you get. People want the Mercedes plan for the Hyundai price. It would be great if we only got straight talk about the life insurance business. Let's keep it simple and easy to follow. Many times in my career, in fact, just today, someone asked me if "I had anything cheaper". There is always something cheaper, the question is, will it do the job.

The insurance business is not a crooked business. Arguably, there are some crooked people in the insurance business. What the heck, that could apply to any business. Unfortunately there are some crooked people in every business. May I mention Bernie Madoff?
